When questioned recently about the moral difference between Dr. Kermit Gosnell murdering born-alive infants and legalized late-term abortion, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi avoided the question by saying “as a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground.”
Pelosi’s openly pro-choice stance contradicts Catholic teaching and a priest is calling on her to either comply with — or renounce Catholicism, according to”The Blaze.”
In an open letter released Wednesday, Fr. Frank Pavone, national director for Priests for Life, made known his discontent with Pelosi’s comments, telling the Democrat to “exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.”
“Public servants are supposed to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public. Apparently, you can’t,” he penned. “Otherwise, you would have been able to explain the difference between a legal medical procedure that kills a baby inside the womb and an act of murder.”
As noted by “The Blaze,” Pavone charged that Pelosi made a “mockery of the Catholic faith” and offended millions of Americans who follow church doctrine when she claims to be a “practicing and respectful Catholic” who believes that the abortion discussion is “sacred ground.”
“Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were,” Pavove added.
So Ms. Pelosi, what will it be? Will you reconcile your support for abortion with your supposed Catholic faith, or will you remain on the coward’s path you now travel?
