Former Vice President Al Gore, the man who invented “global warming” yet recently increased his net worth by $100 million in Middle East petrodollars, engaged in another bit of “pot calling the kettle black” by decrying the Koch brothers’ support for the Keystone XL pipeline and referred to them as “the purveyors of the dirtiest energy on earth.”
Townhall quotes Gore as saying:
They want to put a pipeline right down through very environmentally sensitive parts of our country so they can export it from the Gulf of Mexico to China. Well, the hell with that. It’s the dirtiest form of fuel on the planet, except for its byproduct, petroleum coke, or pet coke, that’s piling up on the Detroit River right now, part of it, thanks to the Koch brothers – the purveyors of the dirtiest energy on earth. This is an atrocity, these tar sands. It really, and so, he ought to veto that, and I hope that he will.
Townhall’s Katie Pavlich noted that Noel Sheppard addressed this very issue, and found that Gore is engaging in yet another favored pastime — exaggeration. The pet coke is the complaint du jour of environmentalists but little else.
Detroit’s a growing mountain of pet coke sitting on the dockside. This appears to be becoming one of the environmental cause celebres, combining as it does the involvement of the Koch brothers, carbon emissions, Canadian tar sands and the Keystone XL pipeline.
The foundation ofd Gore’s very existence seems rooted in hypocrisy.
He’s been touting a carbon exchange program for years, but fails to mention that should the United States ever implement one, he stands to profit handsomely.
He’s been telling his acolytes to “listen to the science on global warming,” yet disregards the fact that science is now rejecting that notion, and that the empirical data indicates the earth hasn’t warmed in 15 years.
He sold his Current TV station, which dedicated its programming to climate change and green technology, to al-Jazeera, a media outlet wholly funded by the oil-rich Qatar. The move prompted one high placed Current staffer to remark, “He has no credibility.”
“He’s supposed to be the face of clean energy and just sold [the channel] to very big oil, the emir of Qatar!” the staffer continued. “Current never even took big oil advertising—and Al Gore, that bulls***ter sells to the emir?”
I don’t get all worked up about it, though. Hypocrisy and hyperbole are just parts of Al’s nature. It’s just Al being Al.
