‘Warrior princess’: Former Navy SEAL is now a woman

Kristn beckFormer U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Beck fought 20 years for “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” and now wants his own true happiness: living life as the woman he always wanted to be.

Purple Heart recipient Chris Beck retired in 2011 and is now Kristin Beck who wrote a book about her life, “Warrior Princess: A U.S. Navy SEAL’s Journey to Coming out Transgender.”

Beck gave an exclusive interview to CNN’s Anderson Cooper describing the inner battle of living life trapped in the body of a man.

She discussed life as a SEAL and serving overseas, deployed months and months at a time with her brothers in arms, fighting and burying her true inner identity, hoping to “cure” herself.

“I gave true brotherhood,” she told Anderson. “I did my best, 150% all the time, and I gave strength and honor and my full brotherhood to every military person I ever worked with.”

But now Beck is out, and she wants people to leave her in peace as she starts to finally live free of her secret.

CNN reported:

“There’s a lot of prejudice out there. There’s been a lot of transgender people who are killed for prejudice, for hatred. When the book came out — some amazing support and some amazing praises — but also some pretty amazing bigotry and hatred.”

Beck says she doesn’t need people to love, or even like, her.

“But I don’t want you to beat me up and kill me. You don’t have to like me, I don’t care. But please don’t kill me.”.
