The first lady doesn’t handle getting interrupted very well. And in pouty behavior one can’t help comparing to that of a whiney child, she got right up in the face of her heckler Tuesday night.

While addressing a group of 200 Democrats at a private fundraiser held in the home of a “wealthy lesbian couple” in DC, a lesbian activist interrupted Michelle Obama’s speech and the first lady had a minor meltdown and threatened to leave the event.

The heckler, identified as Ellen Sturtz, an activist for gay and lesbian rights who paid $500 to attend the event, interrupted the first lady who was speaking on protecting our children to demand the president sign an executive order protecting gay rights, the Washington Post reported.

Obama, sounding eerily like her husband, said, “wait, wait, wait. One of the things I don’t do well is this. Do you understand?”

According to a pool reporter covering the $500 to $10,000 per person event, Obama then left the podium and walked over to confront Sturtz directly.

“The pool report quoted Obama as saying: ‘Listen to me or you can take the mic, but I’m leaving. You all decide. You have one choice,’” the Washington Post article said.

The cheering crowd asked Obama to stay, and she did, going back to the podium and resuming her speech, but not before Sturtz shouted she was just a “lesbian looking for federal equality before I die,” as she was escorted out, the Daily Mail reported.

The Post caught up with Sturtz afterward who said she was “taken aback” when the fist lady got “right down in [her] face.”

According to the article:

Sturtz said she told Obama she was happy to take the microphone to plead her case, which, Sturtz said, appeared to fluster the first lady.

“I said I want your husband to sign the executive order,” Sturtz said. “Her husband could sign this order tonight and protect 22 percent of the work force in this country.”

Not surprisingly, the first lady’s threat to leave the event is not included in the official White House transcript of the event, which reads, “Inaudible audience interruption.”
