Prominent Dem claimed his father’s death was Bush’s fault

The “blame Bush” excuse didn’t start with Obama — it just seems that way. As it turns out, a prominent Democrat blamed Bush 12 years ago for his father’s death.

Terry McAuliffe, Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, was chairman of the Democratic party in 2001, the first year of George W. Bush’s tenure as president. On May 12 of that year, he was interviewed by C-SPAN.

During the course of the interview he noted that one of the “reasons” his father died was “he could not go into a new year knowing that a Republican was actually moving into the White House.”

He added, “I just don’t think he could’ve handled that.”

McAuliffe’s father, Jack, passed away at the age of 83.
