Parents of Fox reporter also targeted by DOJ

Fox News “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier revealed Tuesday night during the “All Star Panel” discussion that the Justice Department had seized the phone records of the parents of Fox News Washington correspondent James Rosen.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that the DOJ had targeted Rosen, going so far as to obtain a search warrant for his personal email. The affidavit in support of the application for the search warrant alleged that Rosen was “an aider, abetter or conspirator” in a criminal activity.

Rosen has never been charged with any crime, nor has he ever been contacted by the Justice Department.

But even more outrageous than alleging the reporter had committed a criminal act for doing his job is the notion of targeting his parents, who live in Staten Island.

It’s one thing to go after an alleged wrongdoer; it’s another thing entirely to go after his family members, especially when you know — in this case Rosen — never committed a crime.

Panel member Kirsten Powers noted that while the White House has remained silent following any leaks that cast the Obama administration in a favorable light, it vigorously prosecutes those leaks that make it look bad.

“The people being prosecuted are whistleblowers,” she said, according to Mediaite. “There’s a difference.
