Liberals now eating their own, beginning with Obama and Holder

When president Barack Obama has lost the support of uber-left Bloomberg columnist Al Hunt, you know it pretty bad. And that’s just what happened.

Hunt appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” with Joe Scarborough Wednesday, and after submitting that Obama “no better than Richard Nixon,” he suggested that it may be time for Eric holder, his attorney general, to hit the bricks.

The two were discussing a Tuesday James Goodale New York Times commentary in which he predicted that Obama would become worse than Nixon. Goodale has some experience on the subject — he represented the Times in the Pentagon Papers case against the Nixon White House

“It is a further example of how President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom,” Goodale wrote according toThe New York Times.

Hunt began, “Let’s stay with your analogy about Ellsberg in 1971. Jim Goodale, who was the counsel for the New York Times in 1971, has just written a book on the Pentagon Papers in which he says when it comes to the press, Obama is no better than Richard Nixon. That’s something my liberal friends hate to hear but it’s true. It is unconscionable, I think, but it’s part of a pattern,” he said.

“They have gone after – they being Eric Holder – have gone after more reporters and leakers than John Mitchell, Ed Meese and John Ashcroft combined. When you throw those names in, they get a little bit rattled. It’s just outrageous! And people say who’s at fault here? It reflects the President.”

“It’s a culture, right?” Scarborough asked.

“It does raise serious questions, I think, along with a number of other matters about the competency of the Attorney General to continue to hold office,” Hunt said.

Can it be that the liberal mainstream press has finally removed its head from its posterior?

Regress race relations to pre-1960s and the press remains silent. Ass $5 trillion to the national and they turn a blind eye. Engage in a gun-walking scheme that eventually results in the death of a border agent and it’s swept under the rug. Benghazi? Isn’t that the name of an Italian designer?

But go after a fellow-journalist — even if from Fox News — and there is hell to pay.
