More whistleblowers will be ready to testify on the Benghazi scandal as soon as they obtain legal counsel. The testimony they are prepared to offer is potentially even more damaging to President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton than anything learned so far.
The whistleblowers are colleagues of two former U.S. diplomats, who related to PJ Media that their testimony would concentrate on two areas: Amb. Chris Stevens’ primary purpose for traveling to Benghazi and the enormous pressure placed on Gen. Carter Ham to stand down during the Sept. 11 attack. Ham at that time served as commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and retired from the military on April 8.
On May 8, Greg Hicks, the U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya and one of the original three whistleblowers, testified that Stevens went to Benghazi at the behest of Clinton to convert the outpost into a permanent diplomatic facility. This, in and of itself was damaging to Clinton and was omitted from the State Department’s Accountability Review Board report published in December. The new whistleblowers are prepared to testify that Stevens’ mission went far beyond this, and was far more explosive.
PJ Media’s Roger L. Simon reported:
Stevens’ mission in Benghazi, they will say, was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaida groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA. Such a mission would usually be a CIA effort, but the intelligence agency had opposed the idea because of the high risk involved in arming “insurgents” with powerful weapons that endanger civilian aircraft.
Because Clinton wanted to “to overthrow Gaddafi on the cheap,” according to one of the former diplomats, went through with the plan anyway.
“This left Stevens in the position of having to clean up the scandalous enterprise when it became clear that the ‘insurgents’ actually were al-Qaida,” reported PJ Media.
The whistleblowers are also prepared to testify that Gen. Ham had special ops “assets in place that could have come to the aid of the Benghazi consulate immediately (not in six hours),” the diplomats said according to PJ Media.
Ham was told by the White House not to send the aid to the trapped men, but Ham decided to disobey and did so anyway, whereupon the White House “called his deputy and had the deputy threaten to relieve Ham of his command.”
Former Gov. Howard Dean related in an interview last week that “Benghazi is a laughable joke.” Although there will never be anything about the events of Sept. 11 to laugh about, if and when these new whistleblowers are able to obtain counsel, the joke, if there is one, will be on Obama and Clinton.
