CBS reporter says Obama administration has ‘perfected’ art of stonewalling

CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson may be the only member of the national media stubbornly seeking the truth about Benghazi since the beginning. In a number of recent interviews, she discusses her investigative work at CBS and the Benghazi scandal.

On Monday, on C-SPAN, Attkison tells us that the Obama administration has “perfected” delaying public release of information, and reports the White House has “quit talking” to her altogether, according to NewsBusters.

In an interview on CBN News, she also acknowledges that “there hasn’t been an appetite for the stories I’ve offered on Benghazi” to the CBS morning and evening newscasts.

As NewsBusters point out, CBS went more than five months without an Attkisson Benghazi report until she appeared on May 8 and Politico reported that CBS News executives were frustrated with her for “wading dangerously close to advocacy on the issue.”

The Emmy award-winning correspondent is reportedly in negotiations to leave CBS News before the expiration of her contract. Anybody paying attention at Fox News?

Attkissin said on CSPAN:

That act [Freedom of Information Act] has now been used, instead of to facilitate the release of public information, which was its intention – it’s now in my opinion been used to withhold and delay the release of public information. I get pretty much zero response. That didn’t start under the Obama administration. He seems to have perfected it, he and the federal agencies. But this was true also under George Bush.

In the interview with CBN News’ David Brody, Attkissin said she “received a lot of encouragement from the top executives” at CBS News, and that they “have certainly never said anything to try and interfere with the coverage.”
