Chief of IRS’s scandal-ridden tax-exempt unit will run Obamacare

This is one of those “good news – bad news” things. The good news is that the IRS official who oversaw the unfair targeting of conservative organizations seeking tax-exempt status has been removed from that capacity. The bad news is that she’ll now be overseeing the IRS’s enforcement of Obamacare’s individual mandate.

The Internal Revenue Service confirmed Thursday that Sarah Hall Ingram, who has been excoriated for her management of the IRS’s tax-exempt unit has not only remained with the service, but has actually been promoted as director of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act office, according to ABC News.

Joseph Grant, Ingram’s successor, was thrown to the wolves when the disparate treatment between conservative and liberal organizations was made public. The lion’s share of the unit’s wrongdoings, however, were made on her watch. Ingram ran the tax-exempt unit from 2009 to 2012.

Grant announced his June 3rd retirement Thursday.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, introduced the “Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013.” If passed into law, it would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury, or his delegate, from enforcing the Affordable Care Act.

“Now more than ever, we need to prevent the IRS from having any role in Americans’ health care,” Cornyn stated. “I do not support Obamacare, and after the events of last week, I cannot support giving the IRS any more responsibility or taxpayer dollars to implement a broken law.”

On Thursday evening, the House voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act in its entirety.

“Fully repealing ObamaCare will help us build a stronger, healthier economy, and will clear the way for patient-centered reforms that lower health care costs and protect jobs,” House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said according to ABC News.

Following the announcement, Cox Radio reporter Jamie Dupree tweeted:

“ABC reports that the woman in charge of IRS tax exempt reviews now runs IRS implementation of Obama health law.”

Three minutes later he tweeted:

“And no, I’m not making up that IRS story.”

Only in an Obama Washington could this occur. Even Nixon would never have tried a stunt like this.
