The body of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been buried at an undisclosed location somewhere outside of Massachusetts.
Tsarnaev’s remains were removed sometime late Wednesday from the Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors where his body has been since last Friday, the Boston Globe reported, and Worcester police have confirmed that he has been buried.
“As a result of our public appeal for help a courageous and compassionate individual came forward to provide the assistance needed to properly bury the deceased,” Worcester police said in a statement this morning, according to the Globe.
“His body is no longer in the city of Worcester and is now entombed.”
This development puts an end to the upsetting report out of Maryland of a US Air Force veteran offering her burial plot at Arlington National Cemetery to the deceased terrorist suspect, although Arlington did respond via Facebook with the following message:
“We have been receiving calls about the interview a veteran did regarding giving up her space at a veteran cemetery to the Boston Bombing suspect so he can be buried. We want to make it clear that this suspect is not eligible to be buried at Arlington — a veteran can’t transfer their eligibility to another person.”
The Globe reported that the burial location was approved by Tsarnaev’s uncle who has represented the family as he tried to find a cemetery willing to accept the remains for burial.
