A new study out this week shows that one in 10 Los Angeles County residents is an immigrant living in the United States illegally, according to the USC Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration.

In addition, according to U.S. Census Bureau data, Hispanics are expected to become the state’s largest demographic group in 2014.

The overwhelming majority of those here illegally are low income earners, with many already on public assistance, which all but permanently establishes a 55 vote advantage in the electoral college for the entitlement driven Democratic Party.

The electoral college officially elects our president every four years, and for those who struggle with math, 55 votes equals 20 percent of the 270 votes needed for victory.

But is this all part of a natural occurrence, or is it by design?

When Margaret Thatcher passed away last month, the National Review’s Mark Krikorian suggested that as great a woman as she was, Thatcher could not be elected today because the British Left made sure of it by altering the electorate through mass immigration.

The report points to Andrew Neather, a former Labour-party speechwriter, who admitted in 2009 that the immigration boom engineered (in the U.K.) after 2000 was specifically intended to import a new people:

“The huge increases in migrants over the last decade were partly due to a politically motivated attempt by ministers to radically change the country and “rub the Right’s nose in diversity.”

As the Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft pointed out in a column today, Ann Coulter wrote in the aftermath of the November election:

Most Americans don’t realize that, decades ago, the Democrats instituted a long-term plan to gradually turn the United States into a Third World nation. The country would become poorer and less free, but Democrats would have an unbeatable majority!

Under Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 immigration act, our immigration policy changed from one that replicated the existing ethnic population to one that strictly favored unskilled immigrants from the Third World. Since 1968, 85 percent of legal immigrants have come from what is euphemistically called “developing countries.”…

In the end, it’s a fair guess to say the demographic swing under way in this country is the result of social engineering run amok, just another tactic from the far-left in the never-ending quest to “fundamentally transform the United States of America.”

Additional findings by the USC Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration, as reported by LA Now:

Many of the immigrants in California have been in the country for more than a decade and are the parents of children who are American citizens.

One in five children in Los Angeles County has at least one parent who is in the country without proper documentation.

One in four of the estimated 11 million people said to be in the United States without legal authorization lives in California.

In Los Angeles County, 63% of unauthorized immigrants are from Mexico and 22% from Central America, according to the study.

Immigrants residing in Los Angeles County illegally make a median wage of $18,000 a year, compared with $47,000 for U.S.-born residents.

Nearly half of the county’s unauthorized immigrants lack a high school diploma, and 60% do not speak English well.
