Army removes reference to Bible verses from weapon scopes

The latest sign of the ongoing persecution of Christianity in America comes courtesy of the U.S. Army in a directive instructing troops to remove references to Bible verses that a vendor etched into the serial numbers of weapon scopes.

Soldiers at Fort Wainwright in Alaska told Fox News they received the directive to turn in their scopes so the Bible references could be removed.

The scopes reference New Testament passages in John 8:12 and Second Corinthians 4:6, with the verses appearing at the end of the scope serial numbers – “JN8:12” and “2COR4:6.”

After the letters and numbers representing the biblical verses were scraped off, soldiers were directed to apply black paint to ensure the verses were totally covered, Fox News added.

One of the Fort Wainwright soldiers told Fox News that hardly anyone was aware of the religious reference.

“It blows my mind,” the solider said. “It doesn’t help the Army do its mission to take off a biblical reference.”

The King James version of the verses reads:

John 8:12

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
