Bill O’Reilly was clearly upset with former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw for “putting some of the motivation for the Boston Marathon bombings on his own country,” as O’Reilly criticized the “left-wing media” on Monday’s show for politicizing the bombings.
While appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, Brokaw suggested that America is partly to blame for the terrorist attack in Boston, because the young, Muslim men involved may have felt “alienated” and angry over U.S. drone strikes on “innocent civilians” in Muslim countries abroad.
In saying that “Islamic rage” still exists, Brokaw said Americans need to take a hard look at “the roots” of why so many Muslims, including terrorists like the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston, want to kill them.
It’s an analogy that conveniently ignores reality.
In challenging Brokaw to come on his show and defend his assertions, Mediaite reported, O’Reilly asked, “Do you want to sit back and let terrorists hatch their plots and watch Americans die at home and on the battlefield?”
The Fox News host and guest Juan Williams also got into it when O’Reilly called out President Obama for not using the term “Muslim terrorism” to describe the Boston bombings. Williams said that it would be jumping the gun to use the term to describe the attack, Mediaite noted.
