FBI uses surveillance, cell phone logs to track 2 persons of interest

Update: The Daily Mail reported Thursday afternoon that one of the men in the following photo  is a Moroccan born teenager from Massachusetts who was just an innocent bystander at the Boston Marathon.

The teenager, 17, apparently was questioned about the bombing, according to the article:

The teenager, from Massachusetts, took to Facebook to clear his name after reportedly making contact with authorities, saying: ‘Going to the court right now!! S*** is real. But u will see guys I’m did not do anything’.

Several hours later on Wednesday evening, he posted again: ‘back home! everything is fake but god is with me.’

After Wednesday’s confusing, incorrect reports that an arrest was made in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing, what is known now is that authorities have identified and are seeking “two persons of interest.”

The New York Post, for the first time Thursday, published clear photos of two men the FBI want to identify:

According to the Post, it is unclear at this time if the above two men are the same as the two following men the FBI has identified:

One man was captured on surveillance footage from the area carrying, and appearing to drop, a black backpack believed to contain one of the pressure cooker bombs from Monday’s duel explosions at the race’s finish line.

“Video obtained by the FBI shows the suspect placing a bag near the Lord and Taylor department store while talking on a cellphone moments before the twin blasts ripped though the city center, killing three and injuring more than 180,” the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

This person is the man described as “wearing a black jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt, is about 6ft or 6ft 2ins tall and of a medium build. He had a white or off-color-white baseball cap on backwards,” the article said.

CBS News reported investigators “are going through cell phone logs to determine who made calls from that location near the time of the explosions.”

Another man authorities are looking for was seen in multiple photos fleeing the scene of the blast site.

“Dressed all in black, the man’s pants have been shredded and he hurriedly looks from left to right before making off in the opposite direction to the where members of the public are aiding the injured,” the Mail reported.

President and Michelle Obama are expected to attend a service Thursday in Boston for those killed and injured in Monday’s explosion.

According to Press Secretary Jay Carney, “Obama will deliver a message “of resolve” to Boston,” the Boston Globe said. “It will be [a message] of the commonality that we all feel as Americans with the people of Boston and those who were visiting Boston for the Marathon and who both endured this horrific event and then demonstrated their bravery in its immediate aftermath.”
