In what Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld described as a “casting stunt meant to create an uproar,” actress Jane Fonda was chosen to play Nancy Reagan in an upcoming Hollywood film.
Jane Fonda is seen by most Vietnam veterans as a traitor to her country because of the infamous trip she took to Hanoi during the Vietnam War, forever etched into the minds of Americans by the photograph of her sitting on a NVA anti-aircraft gun.
When Navy veteran Larry Reyes heard about the film, which he called a “slap in the face,” he started a Facebook page called “Boycott Hanoi Jane Playing Nancy Reagan.”
“Growing up in a military family, I heard my father and uncles talk about what Jane did, so from an early age, I knew about her history with the war and how upset veterans were about it,” Reyes told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column.
Hanoi Jane’s response? “Get a life,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
“If he creates hoopla, it will cause more people to see the movie,” said the actress, who provided aid and comfort to communist North Vietnamese during the war.
