Explosions at Boston Marathon leave bloody chaos, multiple injuries

Developing:

In a developing story, there were two explosions, back to back, at the finish line of the Boston Marathon at 3:00 p.m. local time, and multiple casualties are now being reported.

Fox News Boston reported the explosions were near the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel – the location of the marathon’s finish line. The explosions happened within seconds of each other on both sides of the street.

A doctor at Massachusetts General reported to Fox News 10 amputee victims are in the emergency room and Fox News is reporting police have confirmed three people have died.  Twenty-three people are currently reported injured.

The Obama administration is in contact with local, state and federal authorities on the scene. Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. has been closed to pedestrians. New York City is also tightening security in tourist areas.

Cell phone use on the scene as been stopped by Boston Police and all trashcans in the vicinity are being swept by bombsquads.

Update: Two additional explosives have been found and are being dismantled, according to the Associated Press.

The FAA has temporarily suspended flights over the scene of the explosions.
