A Port Canaveral police sergeant who was fired Friday for bringing targets resembling a black teen killed last year to a shooting range is now firing back — on YouTube.
“King was supervising the training session and asked if anyone wanted to use them,” wftv.com reported.
“Whether his act was hatred or stupidity, none is tolerable,” Port Canaveral CEO John Walsh said.
Both King and the officers hew was training were on duty at the time of the incident.
“He had a target in the back of his car and offered it to two other officers with the port,” Walsh said. Walsh reportedly purchased the targets on the Internet.
Walsh, who has been employed by Port Canaveral since January of 2011, has until Friday to appeal the termination order.

In a followup to its original newscast, wftv.com reported that Sgt. King has taken to the Internet, his source for the targets, to defend himself in the incident. He apologizes and claims he’s “being used and violated” as much as the Trayvon Martin family in this affair. He also takes a swipe at his superiors and those who turned him in.
