In a borderline bizarre interview this week on “Morning Joe,” U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein said if America continues to allow private gun sales, al-Qaida terrorists and bad guys will keep buying guns.
In a meeting of the mindless on the MSNBC show, Feinstein babbled on that the Manchin-Toomey compromise bill (surprise, she hasn’t read it yet) on background checks was still not enough, saying she wants renewed discussions on her assault weapon ban. Feinstein tried to incite panic in viewers, insisting that al-Qaida terrorists just can’t wait to scoop up guns in America because we have such lax gun laws.
“Can a terrorist currently buy a gun in this country? Yes. Can a felon? Yes. You go to a gun show and virtually no questions are asked,” she said.
Clearly, Feinstein was referring to CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin, who resorted this week to repeating comments made in a 2011 al-Qaida video to scare Americans into supporting gun control:
You know who’s watching this whole gun debate playing out in America? Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda already thinks America’s gun control system is weak and American al Qaeda spokesman says it is so easy to get guns in America that wannabe terrorists should take advantage of it,” warned anchor Brooke Baldwin.
Feinstein said she doesn’t understand the “psychopathology” of those who oppose more gun control. (Never mind the psychopathology of mass murderers.)
She also doesn’t seem to understand her assault weapon ban is dead and blindly continues to push for it anyway. She still calls a magazine a clip after all these years, proving she really doesn’t know what she is talking about:
These weapons are very attractive to people who want to remedy a grievance, who just want to kill. They’re drawn to these weapons. And they’re not, these weapons aren’t hunting weapons.”
Do you need a 30 round clip and an AR-15 to hunt? I don’t think so.
I don’t understand, and I never have, why this nation is better, how we protect our people better, with these weapons being so easily available.
So the bill I have, which is close to the Connecticut bill just signed by the Governor, really doesn’t take a weapon away from anybody. If they sell that weapon, there’s a background check. If they keep that weapon, it has to be kept with a trigger lock and in a safe. And it exempts 2,258 weapons in 96 pages of bill language by make and model. What it does do, is dry up of the supply over time.
