Topless activists across Europe appeared at mosques and Tunisian embassies on Thursday in the first-ever “International Topless Jihad Day.”
The event was organized by Femen, a Kiev-based feminist organization known for staging similar topless, anti-sexism protests throughout Europe.
Thursday’s protest was held in support of 19-year-old Tunisian activist Amina Tyler, who posted two topless photographs of herself on her Facebook page. Her chest was painted with “F**k your morals” and “My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone’s honor.” As a result, she has been threatened with death by stoning.
The women demonstrating on Tyler’s behalf held up signs proclaiming, “Arab women against Islamism” and “No masters, no slaves,” and shouted, “Our boobs will be stronger than their stones!” and “Free Amina!”
