Liberal host touts Communism: Kids don’t belong to their parents

An MSNBC host now claims that children are not so much the parents’ responsibility as they are the community’s responsibility.

Melissa Harris-Perry narrated a “Lean Forward” clip in which she finds fault in that Americans “haven’t had a very collective notion that these are our children,” as reported by Media Research Center.

Yes, this is the same Harris-Perry who referred to a human fetus as a “thing that might turn into human.”

“Once it’s everybody’s responsibility and not just the households, then we start making better investments.” By “investments,” of course, Harris-Perry means things like spending “as much in public education as we should have.”

Something which is “everybody’s responsibility” soon degenerates into nobody’s responsibility. It offers the perfect excuse that someone else will take care of it.

MRC’s Ken Sherherd notes:

the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry “Lean Forward” spot contains a reference to a “great leap forward,” which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.

Closer to home, in 1996 former Secretary of Stater Hillary Clinton wrote, “It Takes a Village,” based on the same thesis — that the responsibility for child-rearing is collective.

Former Sen. and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum drafted an answer to Clinton’s thesis — “It Takes a Family,” in which he argued that a strong family structure was the essential ingredient to successful child-rearing.
