“Virtually every one of our colleagues on both sides of the isle for that matter supports traditional marriage between a man and a woman,” said Durbin. “I respect this institution. I’ve committed to it with my wife, and I think that we understand that.”
“I believe that marriage is not just a bond but a sacred bond between a man and a woman,” Clinton said. “It exists between a man and a woman back into the midst of history as one of the founding, foundational institutions of history, humanity and civilization.”
Then Minority Leader Reid agreed. “I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman.”
They now say that since then they have “evolved.” I say their convictions are “tidal.” They come in, they go out, and definitions of words such as “marriage” are not subject to public opinion.
