A New Jersey Congressman was questioned at the Morristown Tea Party Organization’s 4th anniversary gathering, held Mar. 15 about recent purchases made by the Department of Homeland Security and reported in Forbes.
Republican Rep. Leonard Lance says that Janet Napolitano must explain to Congress why the DHS has purchased 1.6 billion bullets and 2700 armored vehicles for domestic use.
“I think Congress should ask the Department about both of those issues and I would like a full explanation as to why that has been done and I have every confidence that the oversight committee ….should ask those questions,” said Lance, adding that he shared a belief, “that Congress has a responsibility to ask Secretary Napolitano as to exactly why these purchases have occurred.”
