A Massachusetts Democratic politician seeking higher office in a special election is alleged to have publicly berated a special needs child at a local restaurant.
Wayne Matewsky, an Everett, Mass., city official running for a state house seat is accused of getting into a heated argument with the father of a special needs girl because she was being too noisy, according to MyFoxBoston.com.
He allegedly used foul language during the encounter, threatened to have the restaurant shut down and left without paying his bill.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 6 at the Everett Texas Roadhouse, and the Everett common council voted unanimously to refer the matter to the city’s ethics committee at its Monday meeting.
A man claiming to be a witness to the incident appeared at the meeting and spoke to MyFoxBoston.
“On my kids, okay, this is for the rights of this handicapped child,” the witness said. “She had no right to be the brunt of this guy’s tirade.”
Matewsky denied that anything happened.
