Boehner ‘absolutely’ trusts Obama, agrees no immediate debt crisis

While House Speaker John Boehner acknowledges they have differences, the Republican Party leader says he “absolutely trusts President Barack Obama.

Boehner told ABC’s “This Week” that the two have a good relationship and that they’re “open with each other … honest with each other,” according to The Associated Press. He also acknowledges that they’re trying to bridge some big differences.

One issue they apparently agree on is that the United States doesn’t have an immediate debt crisis.

“We do not have an immediate debt crisis,” Boehner said on ABC’s “This Week.” “We have one looming because we have entitlement programs that are not sustainable in their current form. They’re going to go bankrupt. I would argue that we do need to do something.”

Fox News reported that U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., chairman of the House Budget Committee, echoed Boehner’s talking points on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, saying, “We do not have a debt issue right now, but we see it coming. So let’s get ahead of this crisis.”

And that, folks, is why the national debt is now approaching $17 trillion, with little hope for relief on the horizon.

Boehner’s true confessional comes in the wake of Sarah Palin’s CPAC 2013 speech Saturday, when she said Obama “promised the most transparent administration ever,” then added, “Barack Obama, you lie.”

There is no greater sign of the disconnect between conservative America and the power structure in Washington, D.C., than in this new-found position GOP leadership has adopted on the national debt. Unbelievable.
