Ellyn Bogdanoff appointed to Florida’s Early Learning Advisory Council

Ellyn-Bogdanoff-PicFormer senator and longtime child advocate Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff has been appointed to Florida’s Early Learning Advisory Council (ELAC) by Senate President Don Gaetz. Bogdanoff served as State Senator for Broward and Palm Beach Counties from 2008-2010, after serving eight years in the House of Representatives.

According to a media release:

The ELAC plays a critical role in the Florida’s early learning education system. Members of the council offer guidance on key developments and important programs such as VPK, School Readiness, and Child Care Resource and Referral programs.

“During her service in the Florida Senate, Ellyn Bogdanoff continuously demonstrated her tireless commitment to public policies that seek to provide opportunities to Florida’s children and strengthen Florida’s families,” said Senate President Don Gaetz (R-Niceville). “Her passion for education and desire to see each Florida child have a chance for a great start in life make her the perfect fit for the Early Learning Advisory Council.”

Ellyn Bogdanoff is the executive director of the Florida Association for Child Care Management, whose primary purpose is to advocate on behalf of young children and working families.

As an education and child advocate for almost 30 years, she has volunteered her time serving on a number of State and local boards.  She was a foster parent and Guardian ad litem, and still serves as a Circuit Civil and Family Mediator in Fort Lauderdale.

“Ellyn has the culmination of legislative expertise, intrinsic value, and talents that Florida’s Early Learning Advisory Council can harness. She is a straight shooter and someone who has what it takes to build consensus and find solutions”, said Harry Duncanson, chair of the Early Learning Advisory Council.

This appointment is a continuation of Bogdanoff’s long involvement as a child advocate in the State of Florida.
