Senator John McCain faced angry Arizona residents Tuesday who questioned his plan for immigration reform.
On the first day of a series of town hall meetings, McCain defended his proposals, telling Arizona’s ABC 15 he is “guardedly optimistic” immigration reform will succeed.
“If they want to become citizens they’ve got to pay a fine, learn English, get background checks, and get in line behind everyone else who has waited legally for a chance to be a citizen,” McCain said in the interview.
