In a classic case of getting so far out on a limb that the end result becomes inevitable, political commentator and pollster Dick Morris is out at Fox News, according to Politico.
Not only did Morris repeatedly predict a Mitt Romney win in November, but insisted the election would be a “landslide” resulting from of a vote shift of “historic proportions.”
Taking his outlandish prognosticating even further, Morris said the Republican Party would pick up six seats in the U.S. Senate, regaining control by a 53-47 margin — the end result was that Democrats picked up two additional seats for a 53-45 advantage (the other two are independent seats).
Morris issued a mea culpa of sorts after the election, best captured by the Huffington Post headline: “Dick Morris Falls On His Sword For Wrong Predictions, Misses Sword.”
Morris has been absent from Fox News’ airwaves since a November 2012 appearance on “Hannity.”
Other recent changes at Fox News include the loss of former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin, who choose not to renew her contract with the network, and the addition of former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich as a contributor.
And, yes, for those who may be wondering, Fox News re-signed Karl Rove to a multi-year contract.
