Rand Paul to Clinton: ‘I would have relieved you of your duty’

GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky grilled Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at Wednesday’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.

After describing her “failure of leadership” resulting in the terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, he said, “had I been president at the time, and had I found that you did not read the cables from Benghazi — you did not read the cables from Ambassador Stevens, I would have relieved you of your post.”

Terry Moran is the co-anchor of ABC News Nightline and covers the Supreme Court of the United States for ABC News. After seeing the Paul – Clinton exchange he tweeted as follows:

“@TerryMoran
Curious: What is Rand Paul’s foreign policy background? Did he serve in the military? Did he study, live, do business or charity overseas?”

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, it’s Paul’s job to question the state secretary. It doesn’t take a foreign policy background to accomplish that — it takes intellect and common sense.

Near the close of their exchange, Clinton testified that her instructions were to “make it open, tell the world” with respect to the Benghazi attack.

If that’s the case, why is it so difficult getting information from this administration?
