Sen. Schumer: Stop selling assault weapons while Congress debates ban

You all know that gun sales in the U.S. have soared recently: stores are sold out of weapons, ammunition is hard to find, and one million AR-15 magazines are on backorder. How’s that for stimulating the economy?

Well, capitalist crushing New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is urging gun retailers in this country to temporarily stop selling assault weapons while congress investigates ways to legislate gun control.

His point is that if Congress ultimately limits owning assault weapons, the measure would be pretty ineffective considering how many of those particular weapons are currently being sold.

Schumer sent a letter to major gun sellers, saying in part, “I’m urging our country’s major gun retailers, like Wal-Mart and Sports Authority, to suspend sales of modern assault style weapons until congress is able to fully consider and vote on legislation to curb gun violence.”
