Times have been tough for 25-year-old father of two, Hayden Carlo, but an unexpected traffic stop made things a little better.
When Carlo was pulled over by a Plano police officer for an expired registration, he said the only explanation he had for not renewing it was that he didn’t have the money.
“You get paid, pay your bills, and there’s your money. It’s gone,” Carlo told KTVT-TV. “I said, ‘it was either feed my kids or get my registration done.”
When Carlo opened the citation that the officer handed him, he was overwhelmed at what he saw inside.
“Opened it up and there’s a $100 bill. I broke down in my car, what else could I do,” Carlo said.
The officer prefers to remain anonymous, but Carlo’s grandfather wrote the police department a letter to thank him, and the officers plan to honor their colleague.
“He helped me out when I needed it and I appreciate that,” Carlo said. “It definitely restored my faith in God.”
