CBS News carries Obama’s water

It’s common knowledge that the mainstream media has been a water bearer for President Obama since before his election. Until last Sunday, we didn’t know how heavy that water was. Instead of reporting the news, ugly and unvarnished like real journalists, CBS has been covering for the president on the Benghazi affair for close to two months.

On Sept. 12, one day after the attack on our consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the murder of four Americans, President Obama was interviewed by CBS News’ Steve Kroft for an upcoming segment of “60 Minutes.”

Last Sunday, 53 days after that interview, CBS finally released the previously missing portion of that interview.

Keep in mind, this interview took place on the same day but after the president’s Rose Garden Benghazi speech. This is the speech where he mentioned the word “terrorism” only in a general sense and not in reference to Benghazi specifically. It’s clear from Kroft’s questions that this is how he understood it.

However, Obama made an issue of his use of the word at the second presidential debate when challenged by Mitt Romney.

The following is the relevant portion of the interview, which was not made public until Sunday.

KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?

OBAMA: Well it’s too early to know exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans.  And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.

KROFT: But there are reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades, that doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration.

OBAMA:  As I said, we’re still investigating exactly what happened, I don’t want to jump the gun on this.   But your right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt.   And my suspicion is there are folks involved in this. Who were looking to target Americans from the start.  So we’re gonna make sure that our first priority is to get our folks out safe, make sure our embassies are secured around the world and then we are going to go after those folks who carried this out.

It’s clear, notwithstanding the claims he made at the second debate, that the president could not utter the words “terrorist attack.” It’s just as clear from the publication of the emails and cables between Benghazi and Washington that the White House knew without question that the attack had nothing to do with an alleged demonstration. It was a pre-planned attack with heavy weapons upon a defenseless foreign mission that had asked for our help and were refusded.

CBS should perhaps consider changing its logo from the “all-seeing eye” to Aquarius, the water bearer.

The following is the missing segment of the “60 Minutes” interview.
