A Texas woman was blocked from voting until she covered up her t-shirt which said, “Vote the Bible.” Poll workers said the shirt was offensive and violated Texas laws which say it is illegal to campaign within 100 ft. of the voting booth.
“The shirt did say vote so it did have to do with voting,” said Williamson County Public Affairs Director Connie Watson.
The woman was forced to put on a jacket in order to cast her vote.
Pro-family group Texas Values fired back with a statement. “It’s outrageous that a person of faith would be mistreated this way while trying to vote,” Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values, said. “If this isn’t voter intimidation, I don’t know what is.”
In a press release Saenz said, “No one else should have to suffer the humiliation, embarrassment and intimidation that Ms. Hill endured. No one should be asked to give up their religious freedom in order to vote.”
