Legendary rocker Meat Loaf opened a rally for Mitt Romney in Ohio on Thursday night with his usual dramatic flare and a lot to say about politics.
“I know there is one thing you’ve been taught your whole life is that you never argue politics or religion with your friends, but 2012 is completely different. I have been arguing for Mitt Romney for a year. I made three phone calls today to Democrats in California. I got two of them to switch to Romney, so two out of three aint bad,” said the famous singer/songwriter.
“Now, I became eligible to vote when I was 21 years old. I am 65 years old standing up here tonight in front of you. And I want you to know at 65 that Paul Ryan has not pushed me off the cliff in a wheelchair,” he added.
With passion and energy, Meat Loaf went on to say,
‘This is the most important election in the history of the United States, because there has storm clouds come over the United States. There is thunderstorms over Europe. There are hail storms–and I mean major hail storms–in the Middle East. There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere… I want you to know there is one man who will stand tall in this country and fight the storm and bring the United States back to what it should be. Gov. Mitt Romney!”
“Meat” told the crowd of about 12,000 that he had never in his life endorsed a political candidate. Joining him on stage was mega country stars Randy Owen of the group Alabama and John Rich, who has spoken out publicly about his conservative values many times. Rich and Meat Loaf formed a friendship when they starred together in a season of Donald Trump’s hit TV show “The Apprentice.”
“Mitt Romney has got the backbone,” Meat Loaf shouted to get the crowd fired up.
