U.S. Congressman Allen West did not get far into his Labor Day speech to the Palm Beach County Tea Partiers before drawing a line in the sand for his trackers.
He began by calling up to the front a young woman with a video camera who was hired several months ago by the Democratic Party to record the hundreds of speeches that West makes as he travels throughout his district.
She is one of two trackers with whom West has become very familiar. He frequently makes a point to acknowledge them, and often sends a message back to those who would use the video against him.
On Monday, though, West chose to engage the tracker in front of the crowd of about 200 supporters, and she obliged him. The feisty freshman congressman had a clear message for his Democratic rivals, who, he said, have him in their sights as their No. 1 target.
“What they need to understand is that I serve a mighty God,” West said. “My God does not walk in the realm of fear. My God walks in the realm of strength and courage. That’s why I am not afraid of them.”
West went on to talk about the value of the tea party and what would happen in our country “if we only had a true leader.” He also addressed his opponent’s behavior in the battle for Congressional District 18, calling it “wretched.”
