Obama outsources NASA while accusing Romney of outsourcing

Could President Barack Obama possibly be guilty of hypocrisy?

A veteran space crew, including NASA Flight Engineer Sunita Williams, lifted off Saturday and is now enroute to the International Space Station. But they didn’t escape earth’s gravity from Cape Canaveral as they have for decades. They blasted off on their journey from Kazakhstan’s Baikonour Cosmodrome in Central Asia. That’s because the president outsourced our space program to Russia, a country with which we have less than cordial relations.

According to today’s Christian Science Monitor:

NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency spaceflyer Akihiko Hoshide will lift off on the Russian Soyuz TMA-05M spacecraft at 10:40 p.m. EDT (0240 July 15 GMT) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The three-person team will become part of the space station’s Expedition 32 mission, and is due to stay for about four months.

Meanwhile here at home, President Obama continues to accuse Republican rival Mitt Romney of outsourcing American jobs overseas while at Bain Capital, a private equity firm. According to CBC News:

An unrelenting President Barack Obama jabbed at Mitt Romney’s record with a private equity firm in an ad Saturday that aimed to keep his rival on the defensive just as the Republican challenger’s campaign hoped to take advantage of poor economic data to gain an edge on the incumbent.

Obama met Romney’s plea for an apology for the attacks with a mocking ad that charged that the firm shipped American jobs to China and Mexico, that Romney has personal wealth in investments in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and that as Massachusetts governor, he sent state jobs to India.

As reported by Fox News, FactCheck.org, the Washington Post and Fortune Magazine all confirm that Romney was not associated with Bain Capital when the firm was outsourcing jobs.

So what do you think? Is the president engaging in hypocrisy?
