Boca Councilman Anthony Majhess is either delusional or a liar

Boca Raton Councilman Anthony Majhess is either delusional or a calculating liar. I simply cannot say it any other way or continue to remain polite to him.

I did not attend Wednesday night’s debate in Boca Raton between Majhess and challenger Frank Chapman, but BizPac Review reporter Michele Kirk did.

Majhess is miffed about a story I wrote, Boca Raton Councilman Anthony Majhess flip-flops on taxes, so after the debate, Kirk gave Majhess an opportunity to respond to my article on camera.

This was his second chance to explain the reasoning behind his voting to raise taxes a little over four months ago, while running election ads now saying he wants to lower taxes. As is clear in my original post, I gave Majhess every opportunity to explain himself, and he hung up on me.

Instead of addressing the tax issue directly and explaining his position to Kirk, Majhess launched a bizarre attack on me and made slanderous allegations that I had been “hired” by the Chapman campaign and was working for Chapman.

For the record, Kirk is a straight-up news reporter who has interviewed dozens of elected officials and candidates, both Democrat and Republican, and done so fairly and evenhandedly. Her job is straight news, not opinion.

Frankly, his allegations are absurd. I have not endorsed Chapman, I haven’t given him money, and I’m not helping out on his campaign. As regular readers of this site know, if I’ve endorsed a candidate, or I’m involved in a campaign as a strategist, I disclose it. As for being “employed” or “hired’ by Chapman, or anyone else for that matter, anyone who knows anything about politics in Palm Beach County will tell you I can’t be hired. If I take an interest in a race, I will work on it for free. The last time I actually worked on a few races was in 2010, and that was at no charge and for candidates I believed in.

What’s disturbing about this is not that Majhess thinks he can get away with lying about me, but that he thinks he can lie to the voters with impunity. What’s left of the local mainstream media has not even bothered to cover the Boca elections, and maybe they would treat a tax-raising Majhess, now campaigning on lowering taxes, better than I have. I don’t know, and I don’t care.

As a conservative, I’m going to point out and criticize any politician of any party who votes to raise taxes, especially at election time when they want voters to forget their actions, and believe their lies.
