The Republican field vying for the U.S. Congressional District 20 seat has plenty of competition, but one GOP contender has set his sights beyond the AugustĀ primary.
Joe Kaufman not only believes he can topple six-year incumbent Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the general election, he plans to do it by attacking her views on Israel and the Middle East ā views he called particularly offensive to him, a Jewish American.
“I’m focused on Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I’m focused on the fact that she wants to move Israel to indefensible 1967 borders, which would be suicide to Israel,” said Kaufman.
āIt takes a Kaufman to beat a Wasserman,ā Kaufman has told voters in explaining his āPink Slip Debbieā campaign to win the seat representing parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
Kaufman, a longtime Broward resident, has established a reputation both locally and nationally for his work exposing terrorist-supporting charities and hate groups that operate under the radar in the United States. Leading to arrests and deportations, his efforts drew attention from major media sources, including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and others, according to his campaign website.
In 1988, Kaufman established the nonprofit Americans Against Hate to expose radical extremist groups in the United States. Kaufman has served as a guest lecturer at many universities, and provided expert testimony to government officials and law enforcement officers on counter-terrorism.
His GOP primary opponents are Karin Harrington and newcomer Ozzie DeFaria.
In a recent interview, Kaufman shared his thoughts with BIZPAC Review on why he is the most qualified person for the job of U.S. congressman.
