The first bombing of the Twin Towers was in 1993 by Islamists but the feds handed the problem over to the NYPD and it was treated as a criminal case. Sweeping the Muslim political issue under the rug was deemed politically expedient by the government. At about that time, I was in Israel and upon my arrival there, I was handed a “Security Sheet,” describing actions I should take to protect myself and others from terrorist attacks. I was to report strange behavior on the part of those appearing to be Muslims and to look out for packages that were left unattended. They could contain explosives. I wrote home that America was next on the list of the terrorists. It would surely cross the ocean and impact us. Sadly, I was right. 

The rest is history. We were left exposed as sitting targets for Muslim fanatics who consider those who do not share their religious beliefs to be less than human. So is it written dozens of times in their holy Koran and one who defiles a simple printed version of it is deserving of death.

In today’s NY Post, the NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority ran an ad that warned of “unattended packages” and urged citizens to be on the lookout for and report such sightings. Three S. Florida imams were arrested last week for supporting terrorists. Two Muslims in NYC were locked up for planning attacks on Jews. Such reportings are now commonplace. How safe are we?

When a terror arrest is made, we look for a Muslim sounding name assigned to the perpetrator. Is this racist, to link Muslims to terror? Are Muslims victims of racism? Apparently President Obama thinks so. In a NY Times article of Sept. 10, 2010, we read:

 “President Obama gave an impassioned call on Friday for tolerance and better relations between Muslims and non-Muslims at home and abroad, defending the ‘inalienable rights’ of those who practice Islam to do so freely.”

Well, just who is stopping them? Who has been incarcerated for planning attacks on mosques? When has a Muslim been killed in this country for practicing his religion? Why the continued referring to Muslims as victims? Victims from what? The call should be made for Muslims to respect the rights of other religious groups to pray, safe from fear of terror.

I fear for what the year 2021 will bring. Forget about taxes and retirement issues. It’s the joy and happiness of the nation that I worry about. It’s the freedoms. opportunities and the absence from fear on the part of our people that are important to me.

I pray for them to be still in place, protected by our G-d, upon whom I rely.
