Yost Questions Nwasike’s Failure to File FEC Report

Today, it was discovered that 3rd District Congressional Candidate Chris Nwasike has failed to file his 14 day FEC report in a timely manner. The FEC issued their standard “Failure to File” letter on August 13th, 2010. This report was due on August 12th and is mandatory for all candidates to file 14 days before any election.

“If Mr. Nwasike is asking voters to allow him to be trusted with their tax dollars and budgetary issues and can’t even file reports on a timely basis, that should bring questions to voter’s minds. You would expect someone in the banking industry to pay more attention to details.” said Yost.

Mr. Nwasike has also had allegations made regarding misappropriation of funds from a Non-profit group that he also had control over. He has yet to make any public statement regarding those allegations.

This is the second candidate in this race that has had issues with the Federal Election Commission. Earlier this year, Dean Black had an FEC complaint filed for failure to file timely reports and failure to report all donations properly. It was also alleged that he accepted corporate contributions without refunding those, which is strictly against Federal election rules. Mr. Black has yet to make any public statement regarding this complaint or its outcome.

“Putting the public’s best interest first comes by demonstrating that you are capable of handling simple filing of FEC reports. Neither of these men is demonstrating to the voters a reason to have confidence in their abilities to handle the sometimes overbearing tasks of a Congressman.”

“These egregious types of errors should tell voters all they need to understand about deserving the trust of the public.” said Yost.

The Primary election is this Tuesday, August 24th, 2010 and the Yost campaign encourages voters to go to the polls and cast your ballot to assure you decide who the nominee for this seat will be.
