Central Florida Tea Party Council Calls for Withdrawal of Peg Dunmire; Confrontation Erupts

The Central Florida Tea Party Council, a coalition of local tea party leaders, scheduled a press conference today to call on Peg Dunmire, a Florida TEA Party political party candidate, to step out of the district 8 race, as well as all other TEA candidates throughout the state..  (See Press Release Below)

Based on the recent revelations of financial ties between Democrat Alan Grayson and Doug Guetzloe, the CFTP Council questions the legitamcy of the Florida TEA Party and called upon the character and integrity of Dunmire to step aside.

Amazingly, the leadership of the Florida TEA Party, Fred O”Neal, political consultant Doug Guetzloe and Dunmire showed up unannounced in a desperate attempt to sidetrack this message.  Guetzloe, in particular, stalked the location selected for the press conference, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections  Office, verbally challenging every tea party activist he could find.

Making outrageous accusations and very insulting remarks which included calling several female tea party activists “bimbo’s” and mocking an tea party activist who happens to be an amputee by saying “I would shake your hand, if you had any”, Guetzloe’s mission was to intimidate.

We have a short video showing Guetzloe aggressively responding to Local 6 reporter Tony Pipitone, and take note of the FTP minion wearing a t-shirt with the party logo on it making every effort to interfere with the interview.  This is but a small indication of the raucous atmosphere that was created by the so called ‘leaders’ of the Florida TEA Party.

Central Florida Tea Party Council
Calls for Withdrawal of Florida TEA (political) Party Candidate
Dunmire from Florida’s District 8 Congressional race.

Press reports of unsavory financial dealings, dubious political associations and questionable origins seriously curtail the veracity of all Florida TEA Party candidates.

The Central Florida Tea Party Council, an alliance of local tea party movement leaders, today calls for the immediate withdrawal of Florida TEA (political) Party candidate Peg Dunmire from Florida’s District 8 Congressional race.

With this week’s unsettling disclosure, in numerous press accounts, of a financial connection between Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson’s campaign and the Florida TEA Party, the legitimacy of TEA Party candidates across Florida, including Peg Dunmire, can no longer be defended by any prudent observer.

Accordingly, we, as a fair representation of the actual tea party movement, appeal to the integrity of Ms. Dunmire and all other Florida TEA Party contenders to make the honorable decision to protect their individual character and standing by renouncing their TEA candidacies, effective immediately.

The recently formed Florida TEA political party is a Tea Party in name only. They have been engaged in a litany of questionable actions since their formation and have never been connected to, or found any support from, the actual tea party movement or local tea party movement leaders and members.

“This appears to be nothing less than a veiled ploy by Grayson to create a split in the conservative vote and guarantee himself another two years of destructive liberal politics”, explains CFTP Council member Barbara Seidenberg.

In making this request, we would then ask the Florida TEA Party candidates to join with us in the true tea party movement as we work to bring back fiscal responsibility in government; protect the Constitution; and limit the bloated size of our Federal bureaucracy.
