UPDATE: 6/21, 8:30pm- Just got word from Craig Miller’s campaign that he, too, supports the Fair Tax, as well as some intermediate measures. I will re-post later this week after talking this issue over with all the candidates. Should be interesting.

UPDATE: 6/21, 6pm- The Sandy Adams campaign has confirmed she is a “strong supporter of the Fair Tax”. This certainly makes me reconsider my vote and support. Still waiting to hear from Craig Miller. More on this as it unfolds.

[ORIGINAL POST]
This has been an incredibly difficult race to decide. This race is particularly intriguing to me because I live in District 24, and will be forced to make a tough decision of who I would rather nominate to defeat Kosmas in November.

On the surface, the candidates Diebel, Adams and Miller are very similar. They all claim fiscal responsibility, conservative stances on moral issues and the ability to bring necessary change to Washington. If all of them are telling the truth, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, then how does a God-fearing, freedom-loving Republican make up his mind?

Fair Tax

There is one issue, however, that differentiates Karen Diebel, and sets her above the rest: Karen supports the Fair Tax. Perhaps Miller and Adams do as well. Diebel openly supports the Fair Tax, which is a very important step in the right direction. To me, the Fair Tax is a barometer of whether you’re willing to take the necessary drastic step to stop the progressive movement in its tracks. Of course that last statement alone probably warrants its own article at some point.

But in the mean time, if you are openly supporting the Fair Tax, then I have every bit of confidence that you mean it when you talk about the need to rein in government spending. Anybdoy can say they want lower taxes, but Karen backs it up with her vocal support of a growing movement that wants to repeal the income tax.

Adams and Miller?

I am asking Sandy Adams and Craig Miller to support the fair tax. If either of the candidates personally email me (click here), or post their support of the fair tax on their website, then I will retract my public endorsement and go back to the drawing board again.

Rumors from the blogosphere

In recent days, reports have been swirling about Diebel allegedly being baker-acted. The Orlando Political Press reported it last Saturday. Although I am a huge proponent of the new media, there are drawbacks. One such drawback is the fact that reports can spread like wildfire whether they are true or not. I find it hard to believe that such a report, which as of yet has not been documented, much less verified, is anything more than a rumor that is being irresponsibly spread by people who have other interests. If this report is true, time will tell. Until then we live in America where you are innocent until proven guilty.
