Sunshine State News: Kevin Derby blog from 5-26-10:
While Rick Scott and Jeff Greene may be getting the most headlines, there are a number of business leaders running for Congress in Florida this election cycle, shades of the 1990s when Ross Perot, Steve Forbes and Morry Taylor ran for president. Craig Miller, former president CEO of the Ruth’s Chris Steak House chain, is running for the Republican nomination against U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas and his campaign manager says that the high number of business leaders running for office reveals voter discontent about the economy and about the current crop of office holders. “Economic turmoil and jobs are the top issues of the day,” said Jon Miller, campaign manager and press secretary for Craig Miller’s congressional bid (the men are not related). “Craig Miller has created tens of thousands of jobs. He’s a guy who signed the front of checks more than the back of them.” Jon Miller added, referring to his candidate’s experience with Ruth’s Chris and Pizzeria Uno. “Voters are looking for someone to take that kind of experience into Congress. They’re sick of politics as usual.” Article located at: http://www.sunshinestatenews.com/blog/craig-millers-team-bad-economy-leads-voters-put-business-leaders-office |
